Club Technical Skills Training
Most current clubs focus on goalkeeping within their
club as the only positional training that is done.
This is needed, but is not the only area. Genesis
Elite FC brings in specialists from the professional,
international and college player ranks to train the
goalkeepers. This training is overseen and directed
by the Director of Coaching, as the concepts of development
need to be consistent within the club and its approach
to player development.
Additional positional training is done in the evenings
(Fridays 6pm - 9pm) where it does not interfere with
team training. The training program rotates on a weekly
basis and includes such things as plyometric training,
speed, agility and quickness training, positional
training (midfielders, defenders, and forwards). This
training is conducted by the Director of Coaching
so that he can maintain a very direct relationship
with all of the players to ensure that their development
is progressing.
Goalkeeping- The focus is on technical
training and on core skills training. Phase #1 Includes:
Plyometrics, Speed, Agility and Quickness Training-
This is done once every other week with each of the
club’s teams. The Teams coach first observes
the training done by the Director or Specialist, but
would then be responsible for implementing it within
their teams twice per month. (Additionally, a separate
camp is offered in the summer that would focus specifically
on this).
Positional Training- This is quite important as every
player needs to have specific development by position
once they advance beyond a certain age (12-18). At
these ages, it is important to begin training players
by position so that they have a very definite understanding
of their roles and responsibilities within their system
of play.
Club dues are assessed from all players per month
thru the competitive season to cover all skills training,
player development and player evaluations programs.
A minimal fee will be used to maintain the programs
and to provide the club the financial flexibility
to bring specialized coaches in to work directly with
the players.
